Excellent Hotel, Staff Very Helpful and Friendly

2 Adults and 2 kids really enjoyed our few days. Our room was upgraded which thrilled our 5yr old. He felt all grown up having his own double bed. 5yr od enjoyed the Pool and kids club. The only negative was having to pay for bottled water to wash and prepare baby's bottles. One bottle per room does not suffice.

Wonderful relaxing weekend 7th Heaven Weekend

Myself and my partner are just back from a gorgeous relaxing weekend in the Shearwater. First of all, the 7th Heaven deal couldn't be passed up, it was brilliant. On checking in we weren't actually given ... vouchers which I learned were included in our deal but these were later sorted out for us by one of the servers in the restaurant. Our room was nice, decorated well with a nice bathroom. The only downside was that the double bed was slightly smaller than we would've liked but there was also a single bed in the room, so obviously this took up the space. We had dinner in the restaurant the first night and in the bar the second. The menu is lovely, although not that cheap; food was delicious and service was excellent. On both mornings for breakfast (which was not inluded in our room rate but we had booked in advance online) we were questioned about how we would pay for breakfast etc which I found a little off-putting but once we explained we would pay when checking out, it was fine. I would've preferred not have to have been asked both times though. Utilising vouchers from our 7th Heaven Deal, I had a gorgeous facial in the C-Spa which I am still raving about. The staff their were lovely and friendly and I spent a long time relaxing in the "relaxation room" afterwards. It's a small shame that the spa changing rooms are shared with the leisure centre/pool but once you step into the C-Spa corridor you're whisked away to relaxation paradise!! On our last morning we availed of a free late check, again as part of our deal and this was a fantastic added bonus. Overall I would highly recommend the Shearwater; excellent service, facilities and food. What more could you ask for?! ---

Great wkend in lovely surroundings

Had eaten in the hotel passing through Ballinasloe before & decided we had to stay here sometime which we did for Valentines weekend. The hotel has a lovely foyer with plenty of areas for sitting if not ... in the bar. The food both in the bar & the restaurant was top quality - the Valentines dinner was superb. The room was lovely with a great shower. The bar is very nice with plenty of TV's for watching sport & there was music in the bar which was good on both nights. The staff were very attentive & helpful apart from the cleaner who woke us at 9am on the Saturday morning to clean the room. I explained we were still in bed but that she could come back later - she never did even though we left the make up notice on the door. Despite this one very small setback we will be back again & I would definitely recommend this hotel to family & friends ---

Quiet weekend away

We had a lovely weekend staying at your hotel. The staff were very friendly, except one grumpy lad behind the bar, especially the restaurant. Food was not great, wouldn't eat there again. Room was comfy, spa was amazing! Have stayed in two carlton hotels, love the chain.

Blissful weekend

Our stay at the Carlton Shearwater was most relaxing, and the spa treatments utterly revitalised our tired limbs. The hotel lived up to its prior billing, as we had received excellent reports from ... friends who stayed there previously. Spacious comfortable rooms with LCD tv and free Internet access also contributed to our enjoyment. Pleasant, helpful staff, an ambiance that compares most favorably with top international hotels, and Spa all made our stay both enjoyable and memorable. We'll be back at the earliest opportunity. ---

Excellent Hotel will definately be back!!

Had a brilliant time over the new year in The Carlton Shearwater Hotel, adults and kids alike. The kids club was a real treat for the kids and the hotel restaurant was absolutely divine. We had a great night in the bar, singsong and all, will definitely be back. Soon as we got home got onto tripadvisor and gave a smashing review, it was well deserved.

Service in Restaurant

The service in the restaurant was the worst I have ever experienced. My family were there as a group and it was so bad that some members were given a free meal as they had to wait approx 1.5 hours to be served, we only had to wait one hour!!!

Lovely hotel & staff are extremely friendly

I stayed 3 nights recently and was very impressed with the hotel, especially the bar staff as they were friendly and professional. I would highly recommend this hotel or you could even pop in to have a meal in the bar.

Excellent Customer Service

We stayed at the Shearwater for a wedding on 17th October 2009. The breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning was amazing being buffet style. The meal at the wedding was also amazing. The room was very ... clean and linen was a very high quality (did mean to ask where you can buy nice linen like that) All staff were extremely helpful. Swimming area was really nice and swimming pool was a good size for a good swim. Cant really comment on the location as did not really move around due to wedding and spending time with family. On the day we were leaving the Irish Hospitality was extended to a coffee in the bar free of charge as some family had come along to say farewell (what a nice touch). It is a shame that the car hire company then proceeded to charge us for a half a tank of petrol when only used a quarter but apart from that another lovely holiday and break in Ireland - mainly due to the experience at the Shearwater ---
