I recently sent my parents on a wee break and booked them into the Hotel, while the room was excellent, they were very disappointed with the menu offered when you book a dinner with your reservation. They were not given the same menu as the Restaurant which offered a poor selection of food!!

I hope that this email finds you well. I can see from our system that your parentrs booking was a dinner inclusive package. When booking this package as standard our guests would be offered the “resident Tab menu” I am sorry that you felt that this menu was limited, but I must point out that we have not received this feedback from any of our guests to date. Having said that, I can assure you that we are taking your feedback on board and looking into our offering under these packages. As standard if you would prefer more options our restaurant staff would offer you t o upgrade to a menu with a wider choice for a small supplement.

Stayed for 4 days in the middle of a 2 week tour of Ireland. Hotel and staff were great. Very helpful, accommodating, and friendly. The room was very comfortable and relaxing after a long day of driving and walking. We enjoyed ourselves very much.

Booked 2 nights for a wedding with 'Cloud 9' package; great value so added spa treatments for the day after the wedding. Attention to detail and quality superb, though the friendly staff had to be best aspect of the stay, from receptionists to salon and the wait staff at the wedding reception all made a short break very enjoyable.

We stayed for 2 nights in the hotel. The location was perfect. The wedding itself was excellent from it started on Saturday morning until the BBQ ended on Sunday evening. Food was fabulous. Only negative was the heat in the rooms, despite having the air con on at all times. The staff were super.

A number of disappointing features for a 4* hotel:
1 - a major issue was the cigarette butts on the gravel on the balcony immediately outside our room - it looked as if a cigarette smoking conference had ...
just stayed in it. It has obviously not been cleaned for a long time. We had young children and had to keep them away from the balcony - friends of ours stayed in a room along the hall (first floor suites) and they had a similar problem. Otherwise the room was clean.
2 - we arrived in the afternoon and there were no cots ready - we had to wait about an hour - with kids who were falling asleep with nowhere adequate to put them. The same applied for friends who were on the same coridor who had to wait over 2 hours and make a number of phone calls to get cots.
3 When we arrived at the hotel there was nobody to help with bags and reception was busy - one girl (very capable and pleasant) was dealing with a huge number of queries - there was nowhere to park at the door so I had to leave the car at the door where it was blocking traffic while I put the bags into the hotel. This all added to the time and stress of checking in.
4 - someone was sick at the lifts on the morning we were leaving - while this was cleaned up the entire area smelled of sick for the whole day and still smelled as we were leaving
On the plus side
the staff were very helpful and conscientious - there just weren't enough of them and I certainly had the impression that outside of the bars and the restaurant the hotel was understaffed - particularly at the front door and on reception.
The food in the restaurant was good.
Underground parking facilities were excellent ---

I would like to express my personal disappointment that on this occasion your experience with us here at the Carlton Shearwater Hotel was so unfavorable. I can assure you that it does not reflect the high standard we strive to achieve with all of our guests.
With regards to the service you received we accept that on this particular occasion we failed in our endeavors. By way of explanation and not excusing the customer service issues you experienced we have recently undergone a change in management and the urgency to address our consistency in customer service has become a priority throughout the management team. Upon receiving this feedback I have spoken to our accommodation manager who has instructed his team to deep clean all of the balconies throughout the hotel.

We had our wedding reception in the Shearwater in May '09 and we cannot praise the hotel enough. Easy to deal with and made our day memorable. Highly recommend this hotel for your wedding reception attention to detail and to your requests were second to none.

I found the hotel fabulous. Everything thing about it, staff, especially Killian Gilmore, food, and very clean. I would definitely stay again and would recommend it to everyone! My brother had his wedding on 29th April and he & his wife found it fantastic also.

We had an excellent weekend at the Carlton Shearwater Hotel. The room was big with a really comfortable bed. We ate in the bar both evenings and the food was so delicious. Compliments to the chef there. ...
Also the bar and waiting staff were very friendly. The spa was beautiful and again the staff were so friendly. We would definitely recommend your hotel and hope to return in the future. ---

Hi We stayed at the Carlton for a wedding. The staff were amazing and the children's club they ran alongside the wedding enabled us to relax and enjoy the wedding whilst knowing our children were safe and enjoying a range of arts and crafts, video's and games. Staff were very approachable and friendly, suite was wonderful, would highly recommend hotel
