Service in Restaurant
The service in the restaurant was the worst I have ever experienced. My family were there as a group and it was so bad that some members were given a free meal as they had to wait approx 1.5 hours to be served, we only had to wait one hour!!!

Thank you for taking the time to contact us and letting us know about your experience in our dinning room on the on the 23rd of January. We do appreciate hearing from our customers, as your comments are vital for us to continue improving our services throughout the hotel. The problems that you mentioned have been brought to the attention of our General Manager and the restaurant team. While the lack of service you experienced is unusual and not the standard of our hotel, there is no excuse for the service you received in our restaurant. We are sorry for the inconvenience and annoyance this incident caused to you and your family. The way in which your complaint was dealt with is of further disappointment to me. I would greatly appreciate it if you could send me on your phone number as I would personally like to invite you back to dine with us on an evening of your choice to experience an evening with us that is to our usual high standards. Thank you again for your comments. We hope that you will give us another chance to serve you. Kindest regards Orlagh Connolly Marketing Executive
Christmas Party Night
The Dublin Girls decided to meet the Galway Girl half way for a Christmas get-together and had a great overnight stay and great food and entertainment with Robert Mizzelle the Staff at the Carlton couldn't have been friendlier.

Lovely hotel & staff are extremely friendly
I stayed 3 nights recently and was very impressed with the hotel, especially the bar staff as they were friendly and professional. I would highly recommend this hotel or you could even pop in to have a meal in the bar.

Excellent Customer Service
We stayed at the Shearwater for a wedding on 17th October 2009. The breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning was amazing being buffet style. The meal at the wedding was also amazing. The room was very ... clean and linen was a very high quality (did mean to ask where you can buy nice linen like that) All staff were extremely helpful. Swimming area was really nice and swimming pool was a good size for a good swim. Cant really comment on the location as did not really move around due to wedding and spending time with family. On the day we were leaving the Irish Hospitality was extended to a coffee in the bar free of charge as some family had come along to say farewell (what a nice touch). It is a shame that the car hire company then proceeded to charge us for a half a tank of petrol when only used a quarter but apart from that another lovely holiday and break in Ireland - mainly due to the experience at the Shearwater ---

Carlton Shearwater
When checking in i left instructions with regard to payment of bill for room belonging to other members of our party who had not yet checked in. A copy of my credit card details were taken for this ... purpose, but the instructions were not adhered to. We checked in at 6.00 pm, but when we went up to our room the cleaners were only cleaning it and we were told to wait for 15 minutes. This was a major disappointment to the young children in our party who had raced excitedly to the room. I have stayed in many hotels over the years, but i have never encountered cleaners servicing rooms so late in the day. Entertainment in the Bar on the Friday night was poor whereas the Entertainment on the Saturday night was excellent. Menu for the Restaurant is very limited. Service was slow and inattentive. One got the impression that because there were young children in our party, it was okay for us to be ignored so attention could be lavished on tables were the potential for making more money was possible. Staff at breakfast time were more courteous and family friendly. Swimming pool and leisure facilities were excellent. General appearance and cleanliness of the Hotel is of a hight standard. I would have no problem staying in this Hotel again but i might consider eating Dinner elsewhere in Ballinasloe. ---

Good value for money
The location was perfect as it is walking distance from the town centre. The staff were friendly. The bedroom was clean and well presented. The Restaurant was not serving food when we arrived so we ate in the bar. The menu was extensive and although the food took some time to arrive, it was very good! I would definitely stay again!

Our family's night at Shearwater Hotel
We arrived just after three and our first encounter was with the reception staff and it was perfect... They were so polite and helpful and efficient...We were given our room details and off we went. The ... room was great and our 5 year old was delighted she had a nice bed to herself.. very important to a big girl you know.. We just settled in and decided to us the leisure facilities.. The people we met were lovely and making sure we had all we needed before we went in.. The pool was warm and relaxing and very enjoyable for families... We enjoyed the rest of the evening doing the usual family stuff dinner and then to the bar for a few drinks and then bed.... The breakfast the next morning was great and a good starter for the day as we had long journey ahead....and our big girl enjoyed helping herself to breakfast....getting help with the hot plates when she needed, they made her feel very at home.... and they were friendly and helpful.... Our stay overall was very pleasant and we will certainly be planning another visit with all the family . ---
