Connemara 100 Mile Run 13th AugustThe Connemara 100 on the West Coast of Ireland is run over a measured and certified course. The 2010 event was AAI permitted. The course is simply fabulous, taking participants from Clifden through Letterfrack, Leitirgeish, the Inagh alley, Maam Cross, Leenane, Inagh Valley again, then on to Roundstone, Ballyconeely and back to Clifden to complete 100 miles. Connemara Pony Show 18th & 19th AugustThe Festival of the Connemara Pony is a celebration of the Connemara Pony breed with week-long activities including a visit to the Connemara National Park, culminating in the famous Connemara Pony Show. The highlight of the festival is on Thursday and Friday, when the biggest showcase of Connemara Ponies in the world takes place. Visitors are treated to the spectacle of seeing the ponies demonstrate their prowess in trials and competitions under the watchful eye of experienced judges and a win is always a source of great pride for the pony’s dedicated owner. |

Gael Force West Adventure Festival 20th AugustThis is not a triathlon, a marathon or a fun run it is an adventure race! It is the largest one day adventure race of its kind in the world. It is a multi-sport adventure race involving cycling, running, hiking and kayaking.The course of approximately 67km stretches from the stunning Glassilaun beach to Westport. En route there are some significant obstacles to cross, including Killary Harbour and the famous holy mountain of Croagh Patrick. |

Moate Agricultural Show 27th AugustMoate Agricultural Show attracts patrons and exhibitors from all over Ireland. There is something for young and old at the show! Moate Agricultural Show is one of the oldest in the country. It was first held in 1839. There are classes for Horses, the highlight been the Anthony Browne Oil All Ireland filly foal final, the show also caters for Cattle Sheep, Poultry, Farm produce, Photography, Arts & Crafts, Cut flowers and Floral arrangements. Children can enjoy Art, Cookery, Crafts and handwriting classes.

Galway Races Autumn Meeting 27th - 29th AugustThe Autumn Racing Festival, is always a popular festival due to its relaxed atmosphere.
